Despite suspension, Wren Sinclair has seemingly found herself onto NXT’s next Premium Live Event (PLE) lineup.
Disguised as AAA’s Lady Shani, Sinclair won a 20-woman battle royal on Tuesday night’s episode of NXT. The winner of the match was scheduled to earn a shot at NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan as part of the October 31 Halloween Havoc PLE.
The late moments of the match saw Lizzy Rain and Kali Armstrong battle it out in the ring. Armstrong was able to eliminate Rain and was under the assumption that she had won the match. But, hiding at ringside was Lady Shani, who rolled back into the ring and eliminated Armstrong to end the match.
After winning the match, Lady Shani took off her mask, revealing that it was Sinclair all along.
Sinclair used the disguise to evade an indefinite suspension she was handed on a recent episode of NXT after attacking an official. Now, it seems likely that she will have her suspension liftred for an upcoming title shot.
The 20-woman battle royal had representatives from many different companies and brands, along with NXT: Raw (Ivy Nile), Smackdown (Kiana James), EVOLVE (Chantel Monroe), AAA (La Catalina & Adelicious), and TNA (Indi Hartwell, Xia Brookside, Heather & M By Elegance) were all repped.
Layla Diggs, an up-and-coming NXT star who was scheduled to challenge for the women’s North American title earlier this year, re-appeared after two months on the injured list.
The first round of the ongoing Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic wrapped up on Tuesday night.
Former NXT Tag Team Champions Hank & Tank had a solid showing in their first tournament matchup, taking down the competitive EVOLVE team of Viktor Zanov and Shido Ash, who had a competitive effort.
While Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy were scheduled to take on AAA’s Tokyo Bad Boys, they had to withdraw from the match after getting attacked backstage by Birthright. In a baffling move, General Manager Robert Stone was convinced by William Regal to put Birthright’s Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King in the spot of Van Dux and Legacy, despite them being directly responsible for the attack.
King and Dempsey made quick work of Kento and and Nobu.
