Hijo de Fishman was arrested Wednesday following the death of referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, a.k.a. El Búho.
During a match between Hijo de Fishman and the current Mascara Sagrada on Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Hidalgo, Mexico, Hijo de Fishman gave El Búho a double underhook piledriver (allegedly) without his consent. El Búho never got up.
Per Luchablog, local reports stated that Búho lay on the mat for minutes before anyone checked on him, thinking he was selling. No ambulance or medical personnel were on hand, which are required for Hidalgo shows, and “this card was running a bit under the radar.”
A picture of the piledriver has circulated online, but there has not been video of the incident released.
El Patron Lucha Libre posted a statement on Facebook (via machine translation).
