Leon Slater made TNA history on Sunday night.

The 22-year-old English talent became the youngest TNA World Champion in the company’s history on Sunday night, dethroning Nic Nemeth to kick off his first-ever reign with the title.

The victory for Slater headlined this year’s Bound For Glory event from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida on Sunday night.

Slater had to pull out many of his biggest moves in order to take the world title.

Nemeth survived one of Slater’s Swanton 450 splashes out of the corner late, kicking out at two. Slater tried for the move again, but Nemeth put up his knees to counter it.

After taking a headbutt then a Danger Zone, Slater had to kick out of a near fall as well. Nemeth rolled out of the ring but was followed to the floor by the Big Play Slater dive, going over a ringpost and to the mats.

Slater came flying across the ring with a huge frogsplash, then hit a second Swanton 450 to seal the deal in 18 minutes.

Slater exercised “Option C” earlier this year, choosing to vacate his X-Division Championship in exchange for a world title opportunity against Nemeth in the Bound For Glory main event. Sunday was his first time going after the company’s top title.

Nemeth was on his second reign with the TNA World Championship. He earned the belt back at Slammiversary, defeating Mike Santana to regain the belt.

Earlier on card: Erick Redbeard debuts, four title changes

Erick Redbeard (formerly Erick Rowan) made a surprise appearance during the co-main event, helping assist Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw of Syx in a Falls Count Anywhere match against The Hardys. Earlier moments in the match included a gigantic Swanton Bomb from Jeff Hardy, diving off the top of an exit tunnel in the venue and crashing through a set of tables.

Former AEW talent Max Caster lost in his TNA debut, dropping an open challenge to Moose in 11 minutes. Caster brought back his rap gimmick before the match, freestyling a few bars before facing off against Moose in the singles bout.

Indi Hartwell kicked off her first-ever TNA title run on Sunday, dethroning Xia Brookside to capture the Knockouts World Championship. In a match refereed by TNA legend Mickie James, Hartwell scored a top-rope elbow drop then a Hurts Donut for the pinfall victory.

Jason Hotch regained the TNA International Championship, winning an Order Four-Way match involving former teammates Mustafa Ali, John Skyler and Special Agent 0.

Frankie Kazarian won TNA’s Call Your Shot Gauntlet match for the third year in a row, outlasting 20 other wrestlers in the 34-minute Rumble-esque match. Kazarian declared later in the night that he will use his gauntlet title opportunity on a tag championship shot alongside Avery Styles.

Former WWE tag partners Shayna Baszler and Zoey Serrano reunited on Sunday and won gold, taking the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships off Allie and Kiera Hogan in an eight-minute showdown.

Just an hour after getting inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame, Amazing Red won a seven-way scramble to capture the X-Division Championship. Red only revealed his participation in tonight’s match during his Hall of Fame speech earlier in the night. The win marks Red’s first time holding the title in 16 years.

In his first-ever singles appearance on a TNA pay-per-view, Ricky Sosa took down Eddie Edwards in the opening bout of the night. After dropping Alisha Edwards with a huge Blue Thunder Bomb, Sosa connected with a pair of Headshot uppercuts on Eddie for the pinfall.

Before the main card went live, TNA inducted ODB, Konnan and Amazing Red into their Hall of Fame.
