Tony D’Angelo will be the next challenger for Grayson Waller’s NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc.

D’Angelo defeated Myles Borne in the #1 contender’s match on Tuesday’s episode to earn the title shot on October 31. D’Angelo blocked the Borne Again and landed a sit-out powerbomb for a two-count. Borne followed with an Angle Slam, but D’Angelo recovered to use Dead to Rites for an awkward ending to the match. D’Angelo covered Borne as the referee counted three despite Borne getting his shoulder up, but it was not referenced by the announcers or played up.

Borne was distracted before the ending when a camera operator appeared on the apron. After the match, the operator revealed himself to be Tavion Heights and attacked Borne, ending with a powerbomb through the announcer’s desk.

The show ended with NXT General Manager Robert Stone receiving a letter that read, “Make me the host of Halloween Havoc or else you are cursed”, indicating that Danhausen will be the host of the special.
