Max Caster has announced that he will step away from professional wrestling for an extended period following his departure from TNA Wrestling.
Caster addressed fans after a match at Awesome Championship Wrestling’s Mischief Night II in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday, October 17.
Speaking to the crowd, Caster referred to the controversy surrounding his appearance at TNA Bound for Glory the previous weekend, which led to the company cutting ties with him.
“I don’t know if everybody here is aware of what happened with me this past week,” he began. “If you don’t know, in the span of one day, I started a contract and ended a contract with TNA Wrestling.”
Caster said that while he had already issued a public statement and apologized to several people, he had not yet addressed the fans.
A lot of people were excited to watch TNA for the first time. A lot of people were excited to come back to the product, and now a lot of people are disappointed that I’m not on the show.
After thanking those who had supported him and the ACW audience for welcoming him, Caster announced his plans to take an extended break.
I don’t know what my next move is. I don’t know where I’ll be, but I will be stepping away from the ring for an extended period of time.
So I’m gonna go home. I’m gonna go to therapy. I’m gonna get it right, so that next time I’m in the ring, it feels like I’m at home, just like you guys made me feel here tonight.
Caster concluded his remarks by telling the audience, “So, finally, for the last time in a long time, you are looking live at the best wrestler alive. Thank you.”
The announcement comes six days after Caster made his TNA debut against Moose at Bound for Glory on October 11. During his entrance rap, he referenced deadly attacks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, drawing criticism for the line, “I drop bombs. You don’t even have to fly to Riyadh.”
TNA announced the following day that Caster would no longer wrestle for the promotion. The company apologized for the remarks, acknowledged responsibility for allowing them to air, and removed the segment from replays and social media.
Caster issued a video statement on October 13, apologizing to TNA President Carlos Silva, company officials and those who had helped secure his appearance. He said that offending people was never his intention, although he defended the entertainment value of his raps and accepted the consequences.
The former AEW World Tag Team Champion had entered free agency earlier this month following the expiration of his AEW contract.
