New Japan Pro Wrestling is shuttering its American subsidiary after seven years.

From the announcement:

New Japan Pro-Wrestling hereby announces that subsidiary New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America Inc will cease operations and enter liquidation.

As NJPW continues to optimize allocation of management resources in a rapidly changing business environment, the decision was made to close the subsidiary, which was founded in 2019.

Moving forward, NJPW events in North America will continue to be held with the full backing and resources of the TV Asahi group, as part of a new chapter in NJPW’s ongoing global expansion.

In October 2019, New Japan Pro Wrestling of America was launched with the subsequent premiere of NJPW Strong. Under the American subsidiary, New Japan held various events throughout California under the “Resurgence” and “Battle in the Valley” names.

They had not held a U.S. event since May 2025, when Resurgence was staged in Ontario, California.

NJPW continues to hold partnerships with AEW, MLW, and CMLL, with talent slated for this weekend’s Saturday Night SuperFight and Lucha Kingdom on November 16.

NJPW previously had a U.S. television deal with AXS TV, which expired at the end of 2024.
