WRESTLING NEWS

**Tonight’s episode of Raw takes place from Columbus, Ohio at the Schottenstein Center and will feature Shawn Michaels appearing on the show to preview the match between Triple H and The Undertaker in Australia next month. There will be football competition tonight with ESPN carrying the college game between Virginia Tech and FSU at 8 pm. Next week will see the return of Monday Night Football that Raw will go against for the remainder of 2018. Below are the matches announced for Raw tonight:
*The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad
*Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel vs. The Revival for the Raw tag titles

**The SmackDown crew has a live event in Saginaw, Michigan tonight and the television tapings will be in Detroit Tuesday night with the following announces:
*The Usos vs. Rusev & Aiden English vs. Sanity

**Lee Daly is working on a big book project covering the history of the Pride Fighting Championships and this is the final week of his Indiegogo campaign to finance the project. The book is entitled, “Before a Fall: A History of the Pride FC” and Lee has been gracious enough to send us an exclusive excerpt from the book for the readers of POST Wrestling. You can support the Indiegogo campaign at this link and learn more about the book along with fighters and officials he has spoken to for the book.

**We want to send our condolences to the family and friends of Nate Kehner, who wrestled as Nate Hatred and died over the weekend in a car accident. Nate began wrestling in the late 90’s and then began to get noticed when he started wrestling for CZW in 2000. He formed a team with Nick Gage as The H8 Club and won the CZW tag titles three times between 2001 and 2004. A Go Fund Me campaign has been set to assist with various costs by his sister, Tammy.

**The final episode of “Ten Pounds of Gold” leading into the Nick Aldis vs. Cody match this weekend was produced by David Lagana on Thursday morning and up that night. That series picked up a lot of support over the past weeks for its build-up of the NWA title match and in my opinion, was a significant reason that match got over to the degree it did on Saturday’s show. When it was announced that the NWA title would be defended at “All In”, it was hardly met with support and assumptions were that Flip Gordon may backdoor into the show by defeating Aldis before the event and face Cody. In the end, while not the spectacle or performance that others had, it was my favorite match of the show and for what I enjoy most out of professional wrestling it had it all. The buzz before the bell rang coming off the entrances and introduction, was tremendous and the audience never died down and rose to a crescendo for the finish with Cody blocking a sunset flip and hooking the legs for the win.

**The NWA came out of the weekend with more interest than it has had in decades and their next major event is their 70th-anniversary card. The show will take place from Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, October 21st and will be airing on FITE TV. David Lagana was a guest on the Voices of Wrestling network on Sunday, reiterating that the NWA will bring back the National title and will have a video series to accompany that championship as well. Lagana added that the match between Aldis and Cody was the first chapter and there would be a rematch down the road, while also noting that Cody will be a free agent at the end of 2018.

**Big Cass (William Morrissey) was interviewed by Booker T. on the “Heated Conversations” podcast this past weekend to discuss his WWE release earlier this year. Cass noted that he was awaiting his 90-day non-compete clause to expire and said the following regarding the release:

If I’m going to be honest with you, I made a lot of mistakes. I made a lot of mistakes in a very short period of time. I did some things that I probably shouldn’t have done. I guess the company just — they couldn’t rely on me, they couldn’t trust me. Look, I’ll just be honest with you, in my opinion, they made the right decision for them. It was the right decision to get rid of me at that point in time. Not saying I won’t be back, but at that point in time, they definitely made the right decision for them. And to be honest with you, looking at it, they made the right decision for me.

**Mike Johnson at PWinsider.com reported Sunday night that Joey Mercury (Adam Carlson Birch) was arrested in Schaumburg, Illinois on Saturday morning prior to the “All In” event. Mercury was scheduled to work behind-the-scenes Saturday at the event as a producer. Mercury was sleeping inside his car outside of The Marriott in Schaumburg and authorities were alerted, ran his information and discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest in Orange County, Florida but it is unknown why the warrant was issued in Florida. Mercury is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday in Illinois and is being held on bail that has been set at $2,500. He has been working with Ring of Honor this year as a producer and trainer and was one of several producers working at “All In”. Mercury also showed up in a cameo role on last week’s edition of Lucha Underground for the wedding involving Johnny Mundo and Taya.

**The following four matches will be featured on the first episode of the Mae Young Classic this Wednesday at 9 pm Eastern on the WWE Network:
*Meiko Satomura vs. Killer Kelly
*Zatara vs. Tegan Nox
*Lacey Lane vs. Vanessa Kraven
*MJ Jenkins vs. Rhea Ripley

**Last Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling climbed a small margin with an average viewership of 225,000 viewers for the “Redefined” special on POP TV. While up from the previous week’s average of 212,000 viewers, it concluded the worst month of 2018 for their viewership with the five lowest episodes of the year for Impact.

**The WWE is sending Velveteen Dream (Patrick Clark) to work two dates with EVOLVE this weekend. He will only be wrestling for the live audience and his matches won’t be streamed. Velveteen Dream will be facing Austin Theory on Friday’s EVOLVE 112 card in Joppa, Maryland and then taking on Darby Allin the next night in Queens, New York.

**Game Changer Wrestling has announced they will be running a card on Friday, November 16th in Los Angeles on the weekend of Survivor Series in the city. Their most successful shows this year have been Joey Janela’s Spring Break II over WrestleMania weekend and Joey Janela’s Lost in New York over SummerSlam weekend so it appears to be their strategy to run shows the weekend of the WWE’s major shows of the year. They have not announced a venue or any matches.

**TJ Perkins / TJP turns 34 years old today.

**Here are the results from Sunday’s Revolution Pro “Live at the Cockpit 32” event in London at The Cockpit Theatre: James Castle & Dan Head over Icarus & Dover, The Great O’Kharn over Kurtis Chapman, Patrick Sammon & Jay Sammon over Lord Gideon Grey & Rishi Ghosh, Juice Robinson over David Starr, Josh Bodom over Psycho Phillips, Zoe Lucas over Bea Priestley, El Phantasmo & Dan Magee over Jonny Storm & Jody Fleisch, Zack Sabre Jr. over Chris Ridgeway. (Thanks to Steve Harris)

**There is a very interesting chat below conducted by Andrea Hangst of Fightful with the Young Bucks regarding the restrictions of “Being the Elite” that New Japan has attempted to use, why they can’t use New Japan in-ring footage, the support from Ring of Honor, Nick Jackson’s illness last week and stating that, “next year will be the year we get paid no matter where we end up wrestling”:
