Queen Aminata’s first-ever AEW title reign has finally arrived.
Aminata defeated Persephone in the main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite, live from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.
After surviving a belt shot to the head at ringside from Britt Baker, Aminata was able to rally back into the main event and score the Off With Her Head kick finisher for the pinfall victory.
Various members of the AEW roster ran down to the ring and celebrated with Aminata shortly after the match wrapped up.
A championship reign was a long time coming for Aminata. The Guinea-born talent was making her sixth challenge for the TBS title since 2024, having come up short in past title showdowns.
The result puts an end to Persephone’s run as champ after 60 days. Her title reign kicked off as part of this year’s All In pay-per-view from Wembley Stadium, beating Maya World at the event’s pre-show.
The co-main event on Wednesday night saw Darby Allin retain the TNT Championship, defeating Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family in a physical matchup. After a match full of thudding bumps and a Callis Family vs. Steven Borden brawl at ringside, Allin caught Alexander with a roll-up for the sudden pinfall win.
Wednesday’s win kicked off what is a busy week for Allin, who is scheduled to head over to Mexico City this Friday for a CMLL matchup against Hechicero.
