In an interview with the Nikkan Sports outlet in Japan, Jon Moxley spoke about working with New Japan Pro Wrestling and his future with the promotion.

In an interview with the Nikkan Sports outlet in Japan, Jon Moxley spoke about working with New Japan Pro Wrestling and his future with the promotion.

After his departure from WWE in April, Moxley debuted for All Elite Wrestling in May at the Double or Nothing card in Las Vegas and was later revealed as Juice Robinson’s mystery opponent at Sumo Hall in June. After defeating Robinson for the United States championship, Moxley was added to the G1 Climax.

In the interview, Moxley confirmed his AEW contract doesn’t restrict him from taking future dates with New Japan beyond the summer and said:

Fortunately, there is no problem in fighting in New Japan while belonging to an American organization (AEW). In the future, I can always show up in Japan.

He indicated that he wanted to wrestle on the Tokyo Dome shows next January when New Japan will stage back-to-back cards at the venue on January 4th and 5th.

Regarding any future opponents he would like to face, Moxley said he wants to have a match with Minoru Suzuki along with other wrestlers with new and unique styles.

Moxley was asked about his reasons for going to New Japan and stated:

I wanted serious professional wrestling, not entertainment that played crappy characters. I knew that was my origin and that Japanese wrestling was such a serious place. At the time of WWE, I went to the place told by the company and fought as I was told. Same as chained. Now it ’s my freedom to do anything. You can fight, get experience, knowledge and enjoy life all over the world.

Moxley is about to wrap up his first G1 Climax tournament where he currently leads the B Block with ten points. Moxley has two tournament matches remaining with Hirooki Goto on Thursday in Fukuoka and a rematch with Juice Robinson at Budokan Hall this Sunday.
