Kota Ibushi is undergoing another surgery for his injured femur as he vows to return to the ring.
The 44-year-old alerted his audience through Instagram that he is undergoing a second surgery to place stronger plates after the first ones didn’t provide enough stability for his body.
I am being hospitalized starting today. Tomorrow, I will undergo a second surgery on my femur. They will remove all the current plates and replace them with the strongest available option, as the doctors said my current ones were simply too weak for my body and leg. Why now? It makes absolutely no sense to me. I am so exhausted from having to go through surgery after surgery. But I am not giving up. I refuse to let something like this end my professional wrestling career. I will make sure this surgery is a success and absolutely return to AEW
Ibushi has been out for almost a year since breaking his femur on October 8, 2025, during a match with Josh Alexander in AEW Collision.
The veteran has been hampered by many injuries over the past years, including a dislocated right shoulder from performing a Phoenix Splash in the final of the G1 Climax in 2021, and a serious ankle injury requiring surgery in 2024.
