Waller retains, CM Punk challenges him

Waller survived D’Angelo in the main event after using a weapon while the referee was down.

D’Angelo appeared to have the match won after hitting a spear, but the official had been knocked out during a struggle involving D’Angelo’s carjack.

Waller retrieved the weapon and struck his challenger before following with his rolling cutter for the pin.

D’Angelo had earned the one-on-one opportunity by defeating Myles Borne earlier in October.

Halloween Havoc host Danhausen appeared after the match and introduced a video message from Punk.

Punk said he had been waiting for an opportunity to return to NXT and announced that he would challenge Waller for the championship on the November 4 episode.

NXT loads up Wednesday show opposite AEW

The title match adds another major attraction to an unusually busy edition of NXT.

Next week’s program is moving from its regular Tuesday slot to Wednesday, November 4, with The CW carrying U.S. midterm election coverage on Tuesday.

As a result, NXT will air head-to-head with AEW’s Blood and Guts edition of Dynamite from Jacksonville.

Several additions were made to the NXT card during Halloween Havoc.

Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan was told by General Manager Robert Stone that she will defend her title again Wednesday against a mystery opponent.

The Vanity Project will face Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable, Dragon Lee & AAA World Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix in a six-man tag.

John Cena had already been announced for the show, while Cody Rhodes will present the trophy to the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final between Hank Walker & Tank Ledger and Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno.

Dion Lennox and Cruz Montana will also meet in an unsanctioned match, with UFC fighter Michael Chandler set to be involved.

The November 4 lineup currently includes:

  • NXT Championship: Grayson Waller (c) vs. CM Punk
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Kelani Jordan (c) vs. mystery opponent
  • Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final: Hank Walker & Tank Ledger vs. Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno — Cody Rhodes to present trophy
  • Chad Gable, Dragon Lee & Rey Fenix vs. The Vanity Project
  • Unsanctioned Match: Dion Lennox vs. Cruz Montana
  • John Cena appears

Jordan retains, Dame defeats Zaria

Jordan retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair, who had earned her opportunity by winning a battle royal while disguised as Lady Shani.

Sinclair came close to forcing a submission late in the match, but Jordan escaped and eventually pinned her while using the bottom rope for leverage without the referee seeing it.

Earlier, Izzi Dame scored a non-title victory over NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria.

Dame introduced the championship belt late in the match, leading to a distraction involving the referee. She then struck Zaria with a running knee and scored the pin.

Borne beats Heights, Fatu overcomes BirthRight

Myles Borne defeated former friend Tavion Heights in the opening Weapons Wild match.

The contest included chairs, a fire extinguisher, tools and a table. Borne eventually struck Heights with a ringside camera, sending him through a table before finishing him inside the ring.

Zilla Fatu’s Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match against Charlie Dempsey became what Danhausen called a “Very Nice, Very Evil” match, essentially a Falls Count Anywhere contest with no disqualifications.

BirthRight members interfered on Dempsey’s behalf, but Fatu fought them off and pinned Dempsey following a frog splash.

Shiloh Hill and Naraku’s issue played out through a series of pre-taped Halloween-themed segments before eventually reaching the ring. Hill countered Naraku’s mist by spraying his own white “fog” and won with a neckbreaker.

TLC returns under NXT banner

WWE announced during the broadcast that NXT TLC will take place at the Performance Center on December 12.

The company last presented a TLC-branded event on December 20, 2020. That show featured Roman Reigns defending the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against AJ Styles and The Miz in TLC matches.

Randy Orton and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt closed that event in a Firefly Inferno match.

WWE discontinued the annual TLC event after 2020, making December’s NXT show the first use of the branding in six years.
