Taiji Ishimori & Robbie X won the A Block of the NJPW Super Junior Tag League on Saturday, securing a place in Tuesday’s tournament final at Power Struggle.
The pair defeated AEW’s Nick Wayne & KUSHIDA in the main event at Nishiyama Park Gymnasium in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, finishing the round-robin stage at 4-1 with eight points.
Wayne & KUSHIDA had entered Saturday with a slim chance of advancing, but they were mathematically eliminated before reaching the main event.
DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Master Wato & KUUKAI in the preceding match, moving to eight points. Kanemaru sprayed KUUKAI with whisky from ringside before DOUKI finished him with a bridging suplex.
That result meant Wayne & KUSHIDA, who began the night on four points, could no longer catch the leaders.
They nevertheless had an opportunity to determine who won the block. A victory over Ishimori & Robbie X would have sent DOUKI & Kanemaru through, but Ishimori pinned KUSHIDA following a lifting double-knee gutbuster to move level on eight points.
Ishimori & Robbie X advanced because they held the head-to-head victory over DOUKI & Kanemaru from earlier in the tournament. It is their second consecutive appearance in the Super Junior Tag League final after finishing as runners-up in 2025.
Wayne & KUSHIDA ended their campaign at 2-3 with four points. They had earned their first victory against Místico & Masatora Yasuda before later defeating Master Wato & KUUKAI.
Ryusuke Taguchi & DDT’s Kazuma Sumi finished A Block in third place after defeating Místico & Yasuda. Taguchi submitted Yasuda with an ankle lock to end their campaign at 3-2.
AEW’s Blake Christian & Lee Johnson remain one of three teams tied on six points at the top of the B Block alongside Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita and YOH & Hyo.
The B Block concludes on Sunday in Okayama. Christian & Johnson face Akira & Young, while Eagles & Fujita meet YOH & Hyo in the main event.
The block winner will face Ishimori & Robbie X in the Super Junior Tag League final at Power Struggle in Hiroshima on November 3.
