Mercedes Moné will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Marina Shafir at Full Gear on November 14.
AEW confirmed the match during Saturday’s Fright Night edition of Collision, which was taped Wednesday at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.
The announcement follows their confrontation on Wednesday’s Dynamite. Shafir had called out Moné after defeating Rachel Armstrong, leading to the champion slapping her several times. Shafir absorbed the shots before attempting a kick as Moné retreated.
Their issue initially began after WrestleDream, where Moné retained against Thekla.
Full Gear takes place at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Other championship matches announced for the show include Will Ospreay against Kyle Fletcher for the AEW World Championship and The Young Bucks defending the tag titles against Mark Davis & Jake Doyle.
Women’s Blood & Guts becomes six-on-six
AEW also expanded Wednesday’s women’s Blood & Guts match from five-on-five to six-on-six.
Former TBS Champion Persephone said backstage that there were vacancies on both sides and challenged new champion Queen Aminata to join opposing teams.
AEW subsequently confirmed that Persephone will join Thekla, Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Megan Bayne & Lena Kross. Aminata will team with Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron, Jamie Hayter & Alex Windsor.
Aminata defeated Persephone for the TBS Championship on Wednesday’s Dynamite, ending Persephone’s 60-day reign.
Collision also featured Triangle of Madness retaining the Artist of Stardom Championship against Hazuki, Koguma & Fuwa-Chan. Julia Hart used black mist on Fuwa-Chan before Hart & Skye Blue combined to finish the match.
Ciampa gets National Title rematch
Tommaso Ciampa will receive another opportunity against AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo on the November 7 edition of Collision.
Ciampa defeated Matt Sydal in Saturday’s opener before AEW announced the championship rematch.
Andrade retained against Ciampa at WrestleDream on October 17.
Next Saturday’s Collision will air from Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager aboard the Norwegian Jewel while the cruise is docked in Miami.
Ciampa also continued his developing issue with Ilja Dragunov. After Dragunov defeated The Beast Mortos, Ciampa appeared on the entrance stage as Dragunov celebrated.
Samoa Joe questions leadership of The Opps
Samoa Joe appeared backstage alongside HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata and suggested that changes could be coming within The Opps.
Joe said the group was previously perceived as something other wrestlers approached with caution, but believed that perception had changed.
“If that’s anything, it’s a failure in leadership. Or maybe it’s a failure in who we let lead.”
Joe looked toward HOOK during the remarks. He then referenced his recent victories over TNT Champion Darby Allin and AEW World Champion Will Ospreay and said the perception of The Opps would change — “or maybe we change the nature of the beast.”
The Cut defeat the Conglomeration
The Cut’s Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn defeated Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong in the main event following outside interference.
O’Reilly had Robinson trapped in an ankle lock and Robinson tapped, but referee Bryce Remsburg was distracted by Ace Austin.
Jay White then passed Robinson brass knuckles, which Robinson used to strike O’Reilly before scoring the pin.
The rest of The Cut attacked the Conglomeration afterward. White warned Cassidy to stay out of the faction’s business.
The group was renamed The Cut last weekend, shortly after White had initially introduced it on television as The Last Outfit.
Elsewhere, the Death Riders addressed their ongoing conflict with The Cut, with Jon Moxley dismissing the idea that being outnumbered placed his group at a disadvantage.
