WRESTLING NEWS

**Tonight’s episode of Raw takes place from St. Paul, Minnesota and is expected to feature the announcement that NXT is moving to the USA Network, beginning September 18th in an 8-10 pm Eastern slot. That is going to be the major news tonight beyond anything else on the show. They will also begin the King of the Ring tournament with two opening-round matches. The following is being advertised for the show:
*Cesaro vs. Samoa Joe in the King of the Ring tournament
*Sami Zayn vs. Cedric Alexander in the King of the Ring tournament
*AJ Styles vs. Braun Strowman for the United States title
*The King’s Court with Jerry Lawler interviewing Sasha Banks

**On Monday’s “Being the Elite” the next set of locations were announced for late October. On Wednesday, October 23rd, they will be running the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for week four on TNT. Then, on October 30th they will be at the Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, West Virginia. The arena in Pittsburgh has a capacity listed at 12,508, so even with the production kills that is going to be a huge arena to run. The Charleston Coliseum is even larger with a listed capacity of 13,295. Tickets for both shows go on sale this Friday.

**WWE has added The Undertaker to the SmackDown taping at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, September 10th. The company will be running the venue on back-to-back nights with Raw the night prior. The shows coincide with AAA running in New York City later that weekend with a show that was initially set for The Garden but has since been moved to the smaller Hulu Theatre, which is adjacent to the arena.

**Dave Meltzer reported on Sunday that Tony Schiavone has signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling. Schiavone will continue to work with MLW, who he is also under contract to. Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com added that the WWE attempted to sign the former voice of WCW and talks went as late as last Wednesday. Schiavone, who returned to MLW last month at the Melrose Ballroom tapings, will continue his duties calling the show alongside Rich Bocchini.

**Starz has greenlit an eight-episode series called “Heels” with Deadline reporting that Stephen Amell has signed onto the project. The series will focus on two brothers running an independent wrestling promotion in Georgia called the Duffy Wrestling Association (DWA) to preserver their late father’s legacy. Obviously, this is based off Dustin and Cody Rhodes with Amell set to star as Jack Spade, one of the two brothers that will be featured. Michael Waldron will be writing the show and Mike O’Malley will be the showrunner for the series. Deadline did not report when shooting will begin or an expected premiere date.

**Dwayne Johnson has announced that he and his long-time girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, were married on Sunday in Hawaii. The two have been together for 12 years and have two daughters together.

**Revolution Pro has announced their Summer Sizzler card will feature Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr. in a rematch from the G1 Climax final at Budokan Hall. The event takes place on August 30th at York Hall, which is the day before Royal Quest where Okada will defend the IWGP title against Suzuki and Sabre defends the British heavyweight title against Tanahashi. In the tag match at Budokan Hall, Suzuki pinned Okada to set up the title match for Royal Quest, which takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London on August 31st.

**The participants for Tuesday’s Captain’s Challenge on 205 Live are set. Drew Gulak will team with Mike Kanellis, Ariya Daivari, Angel Garza & Tony Nese against Oney Lorcan, Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa, Humberto Carrillo & Isaiah Scott. The 5-on-5 match takes place on Tuesday night’s episode from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

**WWE Network has added 20 episodes of WCW Saturday Night from January – May 1993.

**Killer Kross released an excellent video today. The premise is that he was being interviewed out-of-character and then snaps at the end and goes back in. He is one of the best characters out there that every promotion should be paying attention to. I’ve been very impressed with him since he came to Impact Wrestling last year.

**MLW has announced that MJF & Richard Holliday will defend the MLW tag titles against Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Teddy Hart at the War Chamber card on September 7th in Texas. The match will be two-of-three falls and will be taped for a future episode of Fusion on beIN Sports. The show will be headlined by a War Chamber match (the new name for their version of War Games) with Tom Lawlor, The Von Erichs, and a mystery partner against Contra Unit.

**KRQE in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has released footage of officers speaking with the woman accusing Jon Jones of inappropriate behavior at a strip club this past April. Jones is facing one misdemeanor count for battery over the alleged incident involving the female, who worked as a cocktail waitress at the establishment. In the video released by KRQE, the women’s identity is hidden while she describes Jones touching her inappropriately and stating she was unsure if she would press charges. A bench trial over this matter has been set for Jones on September 26th.

**The WWE stock closed at $71.93 on Monday.

**Daniel Cormier posted the following message after the loss to Stipe Miocic this past Saturday at UFC 241:

It’s been a couple of days and I can’t stress the disappointment, I am so sorry to all I have let down. To my wife and kids I am so sorry you guys had to experience that, I never wanted y’all to see that and the hurt you guys showed breaks my heart everytime I think about it.
