WRESTLING NEWS

**Raw takes place from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee tonight following the Clash of Champions card. The show will feature the King of the Ring final between Baron Corbin and Chad Gable, which originally set for the pay-per-view and moved to tonight’s show. The Hell in a Cell card is only three weeks away on October 6th and I would anticipate the key matches to be set in place on this week’s television. They had already announced that The Fiend would be challenging for the Universal title and that was set in motion with the attack on Seth Rollins to close the card last night. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks seem like a lock for the pay-per-view as well given the nature of their finish and having the two come back with a cell match.

**WWE has announced that The Street Profits will host a “Gender Reveal Party” with Maria Kanellis on Raw.

**Paul Levesque hosted a conference with members of the media on Monday promoting Wednesday’s launch of NXT on the USA Network. Several notable topics were covered, including the future of the TakeOver specials.
-Levesque repeated that they were finalizing their schedule but indicated that Worlds Collide in January will not be a one-off. He said that there would likely be more standalone TakeOver specials, such as the one in Bridgeport, Connecticut this past June but also left it open for TakeOvers to be part of weekends like WrestleMania.
-He said that the upcoming draft would focus on Raw and SmackDown as opposed to NXT being in a spot to draft performers. It seemed open that an NXT performer could be drafted to either brand, but he didn’t speak definitively on that topic. I would surmise that unless there is a major idea for a talent that now is the worst time to be plucking NXT talent when they need stars on Wednesday night.
-There were several questions regarding the length of TakeOvers given the additional hour of NXT programming each week. Levesque seemed steadfast on keeping the shows at an economical length and make the spots available at TakeOver coveted among the roster to work towards. He added that it’s not necessary that every star needs to be on each TakeOver citing UFC cards where each show has a different build and different stars. He had stated previously that he expects to increase to six TakeOver cards in 2020 along with two NXT UK specials.
-On 205 Live, he kept stating they wanted to create opportunities for the Cruiserweights and theorized that the Cruiserweight title could be defended on future TakeOver specials in addition to pay-per-views. Based on his interviews of late, it feels like the Cruiserweights will be more aligned with the NXT brand than Raw or SmackDown and there is no doubt they have a better opportunity to get over with their ring work at Full Sail University than some of the arenas they play to. He didn’t confirm or deny what the long-term future of 205 Live is or how that show would be taped if it continued and when it would air.
-On NXT UK, he said there would likely be crossovers with UK talent being featured on NXT and he was also open to the idea of another title in NXT UK, although it isn’t in the works yet. He hates the term “mid-card title” because it automatically makes the title unimportant.

**Our friends at Fightful have the entire media call with Paul Levesque available to listen to.

**Laredo Kid has been removed from several upcoming bookings, including this week’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament. The Cubs Fan reported that Laredo Kid is believed to be part of the popular reality series “Exatlon” that airs on TV Azteca in Mexico and films in the Dominican Republic. It is a series that Dragon Lee and Hijo del Octagon participated on with extended stays of several months by each, meaning it’s unknown how long Laredo Kid could be gone. PWG has confirmed he is out of BOLA and will be replaced by Puma King, who will face Bandido in the opening round on night two this Friday. BOLA kicks off Thursday night and then concludes on Sunday.

**AXS TV will be airing the AAA “Invading NY” card in its entirety this Friday from 8-11 pm Eastern. This was clearly part of the deal with Anthem to gain the broadcasting rights for the show after it streamed on Fite TV. We did confirm with AXS TV that all the matches from the card on Sunday will be airing on the special. The special will be airing in the timeslot previously occupied by AXS TV’s MMA programming, which wrapped up with this past Friday’s LFA card. Fight Network in Canada is not listing the special for this Friday.

**All Elite Wrestling will be holding their television tapings in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday, November 20th at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, and MJF are featured on the poster and tickets go on sale this Friday at Noon Eastern. The promotion has now released the locations for their first ten weeks on television, as well as its next pay-per-view on Sunday, November 9th in Baltimore.

**A match between Brandon Cutler and MJF has been added to the AEW on TNT debut on October 2nd from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. This one has been building for a long time with MJF bullying Cutler. Everyone is expecting MJF to become a breakout personality with the added exposure that TNT will enable him to have.

**Tamina, who had not wrestled since July, returned on this past Saturday’s WWE live event in Macon, Georgia losing to Natalya.

**MTV Canada has made all ten episodes of The Wrestlers hosted by Damian Abraham available for free. The series covers a wide variety of topics including shows on DDT, Stardom, Deathmatches, Voodoo wrestling, Lucha, and more.

**The WWE stock was up 2.5% on Monday and closed at $74.16.

**There was an unbelievable tag match on today’s Destruction in Kagoshima card with El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori vs. Will Ospreay & Robbie Eagles for the IWGP junior heavyweight tag titles. As a babyface team, Ospreay and Eagles are already one of the best out there and this match was stellar.
