WWE announces brand-to-brand invitations, matches for next week

During Monday’s episode of Raw, a ‘Brand-to-Brand Invitation’ was introduced by Drew McIntyre that will see talent able to cross over between Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

This occurred during a promo by Drew McIntyre announcing the concept and setting up a match against King Corbin for Raw next week. Later in the show, they advertised Charlotte Flair appearing on SmackDown this Friday.

We reported on Monday that this announcement would be made. It was conveyed to us that the idea is to keep this limited and not go to the extent that the Wild Card rule did last year where there were numerous crossovers every week.

Of course, if this helps with their television viewership all plans could be out the window.

One source noted to POST Wrestling that this was an idea that came at the request of the networks.

For next week’s show, they have also announced a WWE women’s tag title match with Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs. The IIconics, who returned on Raw and beat the champions in a non-title match.

WWE will be taping next week’s editions of Raw and Friday Night SmackDown on Tuesday from the WWE Performance Center.
