One week after WWE Raw was dominated by cable new programming, the show reclaimed its place among the most-watched shows on cable Monday.
The three-hour show averaged 1,737,000 viewers, which was basically identical to last week and up 0.5%. The major difference was the 18-49 demographic where Raw rose 8% to 0.53 this week.
The show started with 1,827,000 in the first hour and was their best opening hour since May 11th. It fell 2% in the second hour to 1,790,000 and declined another 11% in the third hour to 1,595,000.
The third hour would be Raw’s third-lowest hour in modern history.
The demo rating placed Raw in 3rd, 4th, and 6th among all cable programming (last week they fell to 12th, 13th, and 17th due to the news coverage of the protests).
While overall viewership was flat with last week’s Memorial Day show, this week saw increases in most of its key demographics. This was led by adults 18-34 increasing by 14% the 18-49 demo and males 18-49 up 8% each. The only demo to fall was adults over 50, which was down 2%.
The week-to-week comparisons showed decent increases, but they had some big drops from the first to the third hour. The largest was among females 12-34 down 25% from the first hour to the third. Adults 25-54 fell 16% and adults 18-34 were down 15%. The audience that stuck around was males 12-34 that only fell 5% throughout the show.
Raw was promoted around a rematch between Asuka and Charlotte Flair, which was teased at the beginning of the show and held off until the final half-hour of the program. They had also heavily advertised Edge appearing on The Peep Show with Christian.
On this same week in 2019, Raw averaged 2,125,000 viewers going against the finals of the NBA playoffs with a game between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors that did 18,217,000 viewers.
