WWE has revealed that Roman Reigns will have his first match back this Sunday at WWE Payback in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Universal title.

The news was announced at the beginning of Monday Night Raw stating that new Universal Champion The Fiend Bray Wyatt will defend the title against Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat Match at WWE Payback on Sunday.

There will be a contract signing involving the three later this week on Friday Night SmackDown.

This will be Reigns’ first match since March prior to his sabbatical during the pandemic following the birth of his twins. Reigns appeared on one empty arena edition of SmackDown for a contract signing with Bill Goldberg, before removing himself from the WrestleMania tapings and subsequent shows.

Reigns returned at the conclusion of the Universal title match at SummerSlam attacking new champion The Fiend as well as Strowman to end the show.

Below is the current line-up for WWE Payback this Sunday:
*WWE Universal Championship: The Fiend Bray Wyatt (champion) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
*WWE Women’s Tag Titles: Sasha Banks & Bayley (champions) vs. Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax
*WWE United States Championship: Apollo Crews (champion) vs. Bobby Lashley
*Randy Orton vs. Keith Lee
