WWE NXT notes: Four-way Iron Man match to determine new NXT Champion set for 9/1

There were a handful of notes coming out of the 8/26 edition of NXT including the announcement that a new NXT Champion will be crowned next week.

The opening segment of the 8/26 episode of NXT saw Karrion Kross and Scarlett appear following Kross’ NXT Title win at TakeOver: XXX. Kross made the announcement that he has to relinquish the NXT Championship due to a separated shoulder. The vacant NXT Title will be up for grabs on next Tuesday’s edition of NXT in a Fatal 4-Way 60 minute Iron Man match. Johnny Gargano, Finn Balor, Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa will all have the opportunity to become a two-time NXT Champion.

Tommaso Ciampa made his in-ring return on tonight’s show for the first time since TakeOver: In Your House and he bested Jake Atlas. Ciampa attacked Atlas after the match.

Also on tonight’s show, Austin Theory made his return to WWE programming for the first time since June. Theory’s name was brought up in the #SpeakingOut movement and he had not appeared on WWE programming since and has not been active on social media since that occurred.

There was a segment during the show when the new North American Champion Damian Priest was confronted by Timothy Thatcher about his recent title victory. To get a recap of the 8/26 edition of NXT, head over to the upNXT YouTube channel for their review of the show.
