John Pollock & Wai Ting welcome film critic/friend Ed Boxler to review Rocky IV (1985) as Rocky Balboa travels to the USSR to face his greatest challenge yet: Communism.

The three discuss Stallone’s Cold War political messaging throughout the film, Carl Weathers’ final performance as Apollo Creed, the debut of Dolph Lundgren as the immensely-quotable Ivan Drago, as well as the film’s very liberal use of 80’s action film tropes such as the musical montage.

Rocky trains his friend Apollo Creed in a match against Drago, an indestructible Russian boxer. But when Apollo is killed in the ring during the match, Rocky vows to avenge his friend’s death.
