New Japan Pro-Wrestling added to the lineup of their string of shows to kick off the month of March. Their 49th Anniversary event is scheduled for the 4th and the following day, the 2021 New Japan Cup tournament will kick off inside Korakuen Hall.

The tournament will wind down and conclude on March 20th and 21st. Those shows will emanate from the Xebio Arena Sendai, which is the home of the Sendai 89ers who are a part of Japan’s pro basketball league, the B. League.

The winner of the 2020 New Japan Cup was Bullet Club’s EVIL and he went on to capture the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships from Tetsuya Naito.

Last week at Wrestle Kingdom 15, on night one, Kota Ibushi defeated Naito to win the double gold and successfully retained both titles on night two by defeating Jay White. Ibushi is scheduled to defend his titles at the conclusion of the New Beginning tour against 2019 New Japan Cup finalist SANADA.
