Welcome to POST Wrestling’s coverage of AEW Revolution from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Earlier this week, Tony Khan stated that approximately 1,300 would be in attendance.

We will be LIVE immediately after the pay-per-view with the AEW Revolution POST Show for our Double Double, Iced Capp & Espresso members of the POST Wrestling Café.

SI.com noted on Sunday that the Street Fight involving Sting was taped in advance with Justin Barrasso being told it was “a success”.

*AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks (c) def. MJF & Chris Jericho (w/ Wardlow) in 17:48
*BUY-IN Match: Britt Baker & Maki Itoh def. Riho & Thunder Rosa in 14:50

The Buy-In featured Excalibur and Tony Schiavone calling the pre-show match.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Britt Baker produced a self-written doctor’s note stating Rebel could not compete and isn’t cleared after being attacked.

Baker walked out and said she got the Jaguars’ physician to agree with her. Rebel came out with a crutch and Tony Khan has allowed her to choose a replacement.

Maki Itoh is revealed as the replacement. Itoh came and did her pop star entrance singing for the crowd. It got over very well in front of the Jacksonville crowd.

Dr. Britt Baker & Maki Itoh vs. Thunder Rosa & Riho

Itoh wrestled twice on Saturday in Japan for Tokyo Joshi Pro as part of its Max Heart Tournament before flying over.

Itoh was tagged in and waved the middle fingers in the air before locking up with Thunder Rosa.

Itoh started crying after being hit with chops.

Baker yanked Riho to the floor and sent her into the guardrail. Rebel assisted in sending Riho into the ring exposing that she was fine.

Thunder Rosa was hit with a sling blade from Baker, and a Kokeshi by Itoh for a two-count. Itoh hit a tornado DDT on Rosa but missed the splash off the top. Itoh countered a running knee from Riho into a half-crab but Riho reached the rope.

Thunder Rosa sent Baker into Rebel on the apron, hit a Death Valley Driver, and Itoh saved. After Baker hit Rosa with a superkick, Rebel nailed her with the crutch and Baker pinned her.

WINNER: Dr. Britt Baker & Maki Itoh in 14 minutes and 50 seconds

The Itoh surprise got over well with the live audience, proving that the audience was familiar with her from the tournament.

It was a well-wrestled match as Baker’s improvements have been significant over the past year. Riho was less focused on with Itoh front-and-center until the closing minutes involving Baker and Rosa and the weapon shot from Rebel.

The Buy-In wrapped up with Jim Ross making his way to the broadcast booth. His voice sounded very hoarse and indicated this was going to be a tough broadcast for him as he sounded under the weather.

The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho & MJF for the AEW Tag Team Championship

The Bucks attacked and took the challengers to the floor. The Buck stereo dives and then simultaneously applied sharpshooters inside.

After a springboard dropkick by Jericho, the challenges took control of Nick. Matt came inside and fell to the floor when Wardlow pulled the rope and they transitioned to working on Matt in the ring.

Jericho and MJF lifted Matt for a double-team vertical suplex while holding up their middle fingers. Nick received the hot tag, attacking both in a series of incredible moves including a Destroyer to MJF for a two-count.

The Young Bucks hit the Motor City Machine Guns’ Made in Detroit on Jericho, which Excalibur noted. MJF held Nick to avoid the Indie Taker, Jericho reversed Matt with a tombstone, Nick still went for the Meltzer Driver but just landed on his ass and Jericho applied the Walls of Jericho.

An Indie Taker to MJF was stopped with Jericho hitting the codebreaker to Nick in mid-air.

The big near-fall came when Aubrey Edwards was distracted with Wardlow allowing Jericho to hit Matt with “Floyd” followed by the Heat Seeker and Matt kicked out for a big reaction.

Wardlow grabbed Matt and Jericho missed with the Judas Effect hitting Wardlow. Jericho attempted a lionsault and was hit with a superkick in mid-air followed by the BTE Trigger with MJF breaking it up.

They lit up MJF with multiple superkicks and a double version to Jericho before hitting the Meltzer Driver for the victory.

WINNERS: The Young Bucks at 17 minutes and 48 seconds

This was excellent and on the high-end of what your expectations would have been. The timing was near perfect, the near-fall set-ups were elaborate and well-thought-out. This was a tremendous opening match on the show.

Casino Tag Team Battle Royale

John Silver & Alex Reynolds, Stu Grayson & Evil Uno, Santana & Ortiz, The Butcher & The Blade, Top Flight (Darius Martin & Dante Martin), Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen), Bear Country, Death Triangle (PAC & Rey Fenix), Varsity Blonds (Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.), Matt Sydal & Mike Sydal, S.C.U. (Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels), Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall, Chaos Project (Luther & Serpentico), Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn), Dark Order’s 5 & 10

Both members of the team must be eliminated. The winners will receive a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship.

The match began with Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall with 5 & 10 of the Dark Order and 90 seconds on the clock until the next team would enter. Dark Order laid out Marshall and did their pose allowing Rhodes to hit a double bulldog from behind.

Santana & Ortiz were the next entrants at #3. Marshall hit a Diamond Cutter and eliminated 5 (Alan Angels) for the first elimination.

The fourth entrants were Matt & Mike Sydal.

The Dark Order’s Stu Grayson & Evil Uno were in next. Santana & Ortiz tossed Mike Sydal out as the second elimination. Gray & Uno worked with 10 to attack Ortiz.

The sixth entrants were Colten & Austin Gunn of The Gunn Club. Santana eliminated Matt Sydal with a running boot and was the first team to be eliminated.

Next, was Peter Avalon & Cezar Bononi. They promoted Bononi as the largest man in this match.

The eighth entrants were The Varsity Blonds Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison. Austin Gunn hit Avalon with the Famouser and eliminated him. As the Gunn Club tried to eliminate Bononi, Marshall sent Austin & Colten over leading to Rhodes upset with Marshall because they’re in the Nightmare Family. So, Marshall eliminated himself and walked out on Rhodes.

The next team to enter was Bear Country (Bear Bronson & Boulder). They got a good reaction showcasing their power immediately. Collectively, they tossed Stu Grayson out.

Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus entered tenth as the crowd sang along with Jungle Boy’s theme. Jungle Boy eliminated Ortiz. Luchasaurus tossed out Bononi and Garrison as the crowd chanted his name. Jungle Boy baited Santana and eliminated him with a head scissors. Marko Stunt attempted a ‘rana off the apron to Evil Uno, this was poorly timed as Uno hesitated and then ran into the post and it looked pretty silly.

The Butcher & The Blade were next out. With the assistance of The Bunny, Butcher & Blade eliminated Rhodes.

Private Party were in #12 and went after Jungle Boy.

Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian were #13 and it was mentioned they are 6-0 since making their promise to never lose. Then, Excalibur explained this battle royal wouldn’t be considered a loss. Bear Country eliminated Luchasaurus, The Butcher sent both of Bear Country out.

PAC & Rey Fenix were the next team to enter. They eliminated The Blade and Marq Quen right away.

The final team to enter was John Silver & Alex Reynolds. They hit the Dark Destroyer to Isiah Kassidy and tossed him out. Daniels & Kazarian back body dropped The Butcher out of the ring.

It’s down to Daniels & Kazarian, Silver & Reynold, Fenix & PAC, and Jungle Boy is on his own.

Fenix eliminated Daniels, Jungle Boy elevated Reynolds and he was out, Kazarian dumped out by PAC and it’s down to PAC, Fenix, Jungle Boy, and John Silver.

There were several near eliminations with Silver and Fenix holding on. It really picked up here from an action standpoint. Fenix did the rope walk and kicked Silver off the apron to the floor. The Death Triangle double-teamed Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy drew in PAC and he pulled down the rope eliminating PAC.

Jungle Boy and Fenix had a face-off and Fenix hit an insane tope con giro through the ropes and landed in the front row. Inside the ring, Jungle Boy hit a poison ‘rana, Fenix spun off the rope and drilled Jungle Boy with a spin kick sending him over the top to the floor.

WINNER: Rey Fenix (and PAC) at 26 minutes and 46 seconds

It was a pretty good battle royal and the last several minutes were really hot involving some of the top performers in the company and sets up a fantastic tag title match between The Young Bucks and Death Triangle. This was a fun match.

Dasha interviewed Paul Wight and asked about the mystery signing. Wight gave a hint and said he didn’t think anyone here could outwork the person.

Diamond Dallas Page and Al Snow were shown watching the show in the crowd.

Hikaru Shida vs. Ryo Mizunami for the AEW Women’s Championship

Excalibur provided the backstory that Mizunami humiliated Shida years ago and that Shida has never beaten Mizunami.

Shida leaped off the chair on the floor, was caught, and dumped into the people in the front row.

Shida hit the Crunchie / B Driver on the stage and referee Paul Turner was checking on Mizunami. Mizunami fought back with head butts and strikes.

Shida hit the Tamashii and Mizunami rose up, was hit with a second one but both were down with Shida unable to cover her.

Mizunami hit the twisting uranage and a spear, she ascended to the top and hit the guillotine leg drop for a near-fall.

Mizunami’s Hot Limit was blocked, Mizunami popped up from a Straight Jacket German suplex, Shida hit a Falcon Arrow and drilled her with a knee to the face, one from behind, and another Falcon Arrow for another two-count.

The two ran at one another with Shida landing a flying knee, poked Mizunami in the eyes for an inside cradle, hit another Tamashii and Mizunami reversed the cover and got a two-count. Mizunami kicked out another Tamashii.

Finally, Shida hit a spinning roundhouse kick and stacked Mizunami to win the match.

WINNER: Hikaru Shida at 15 minutes and 9 seconds to retain the AEW Women’s Championship

This was a hell of a match and I’m sure some would see this as the best women’s match AEW has hosted. You could argue they could have tightened it up near the end with the reliance on the Tamashii for the near-falls but overall, this worked great and was a strong performance.

After, Nyla Rose attacked Hikaru Shida with Britt Baker, Rebel, and Maki Itoh joining in the attack on Shida and Mizunami. Thunder Rosa ran down, and it seems to be a 3-on-3 program following this.

They revealed the date of Sunday, May 30th for AEW Double or Nothing at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

Miro & Kip Sabian attacked Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy backstage with Miro putting Taylor through a glass window and telling them to play his music.

Miro & Kip Sabian vs. Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy

They dragged Taylor onto the stage and he’s bleeding from the glass. Miro got on the microphone and ran down Taylor for turning him down when he could have attached a rocket to his back. Taylor said to ring the bell.

It’s 2-on-1 as Cassidy was still down backstage. Cassidy struggled on his way out to join Taylor. Cassidy leaped off the stage with the Orange Punch to Miro and tags into the match. Cassidy hit Deep Impact on Sabian for a two-count, he can’t lift him for Beach Break due to his injured back.

Taylor hit a piledriver to Sabian and Miro charged in to break the cover. Cassidy did the limp kicks to Miro, caught Cassidy with a kick before Cassidy hit the Stundog Millionaire and Orange Punch, and held up when Penelope Ford was on the apron. Miro shoved Cassidy into Ford, who flew off the apron.

Miro ended it with a head kick to Taylor and Game Over for the submission.

WINNERS: Miro & Kip Sabian in 7 minutes and 53 seconds

A lot of intensity from Miro and they made most of a relatively cold match. The key spot was Miro deciding to sacrifice Ford by shoving Cassidy into her. Nothing wrong with the match, and it was relatively short.

Alex Marvez interviewed The Inner Circle and asked about what was next after failing to win the tag titles. Jericho said they are better than The Young Bucks, the group is depleted but they are an army and are going to change their plans in the middle of a battle with the first-ever “Inner Circle War Council” on Wednesday. MJF agrees and said it’s time for a change to make the Inner Circle better.

Hangman Page vs. Matt Hardy

There was a “Big Money Matt” chant when it began. Page teased the Buckshot Lariat early forcing Hardy to retreat to the floor.

Page leaped off a railing by the seats with a double sledge. Hardy took over inside the ring and injured Page’s right hand.

Page hit a leaping clothesline off the turnbuckle sending Hardy to the floor. Hardy connected with a Twist of Fate on the floor to take over again.

Page hit a beautiful moonsault off the top to the floor. Hardy hit a BT Bomb for a two-coun.

Hardy was hit with Dead Eye, but Private Party appeared on the apron and distracted referee Rick Knox. Page sent both Kassidy and Quen to the floor, a Buckshot Lariat was stopped with a side effect, and Twist of Fate but Page kicked out.

Dark Order ran out to assist Page and attack Private Party, caught Page sent him back onto the apron to hit the Buckshot Lariat, and wins the match.

WINNER: Hangman Page at 14 minutes and 59 seconds

Excalibur said as rich as Page is in money, he is as rich in friendship.

With so much left on the show, this one could have been shorter, and it wasn’t that hot a program going in. The work was fine, but it dragged for me. The final sequence worked with Dark Order embracing Page and having a group hug afterward. They all drank beer.

Cody Rhodes vs. Max Caster vs. Lance Archer vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Ethan Page in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match

The winner receives the TNT title shot this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Ethan Page was revealed as the mystery entrant. Excalibur brought up Page’s history with Darby Allin.

Next, was the surprise reveal and it was Christian Cage.

He walked into the ring with a contract, signed it, and revealed his shirt that said, “Out Work Everyone”.

Darby Allin & Sting vs. Brian Cage & Ricky Starks in a Street Fight

Taz is on commentary and explained he didn’t need to be at the fight. Ross threw to an “undisclosed location”.

They showed up at a warehouse with a ring inside of it.

Allin showed up with “The Army of Hoodlums” while Sting pulled up in a truck and a dozen others dressed in Sting masks.

Allin pushed off a wall onto Cage in the ring.

Cage overpowered Allin and threw him through a set of doors.

Starks told Sting he was nothing without the bat, so he tossed the bat away, and rammed Starks into the wall.

Cage lifted Allin in a vertical suplex position and walked up a flight of stairs, and that looked incredible.

Cage lifted Allin and was stopped with a fire extinguisher sprayed by Sting and Allin broke a bottle over his head. Collectively, they put Cage through a table as Starks returned to the fight. Allin scaled a beam and did a Coffin Drop off it.

A masked Powerhouse Hobbs appeared, and Hook joined in the attack on Allin. There was a see-saw spot as Cage and Hobbs swung Allin through a glass window.

Sting caught a bat from Allin and fought off Team Taz and then, attacked with a shovel. Allin leaped off a ledge from high above with an elbow drop.

Sting was alone with Starks in the ring with Sting kicking out from a spear after running into an exposed buckle.

Sting countered a powerbomb with a sunset flip, got to his feet, and hit the Scorpion Death Drop and Sting pinned Starks.

WINNER: Sting & Darby Allin in 13:51

This came really late in the show but this was completely different from anything else on the show. The production value was top-level and Cage and Allin did some incredible things. It was the best environment to showcase Sting rather than going fourteen minutes in front of a small crowd.

For this week’s Dynamite:
*Darby Allin vs. Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship
*Matt Jackson vs. Rey Fenix
*Britt Baker, Rebel & Maki Itoh vs. Hikaru Shida, Ryo Mizunami & Thunder Rosa
*The Inner Circle’s “War Council”

Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley in the Exploding Barbed-Wire Death Match for the AEW Championship

Bryce Remsburg is in a Hazmat suit inside the ring.

Don Callis joined the commentary and said it’s a great day to die.

They started slow, merely teasing the idea of encountering the barbed wire.

Omega threw powder into Moxley’s eyes and ran him into the barbed wire for the first explosion.

Moxley is cut open and thrown into the barbed wire with his face covered in blood. As Omega went for a figure-four he was kicked into the ropes twice in a row for a pair of explosions.

Omega took a side slam onto a chair wrapped in barbed wire. Moxley wrapped the wire around his arm for a lariat but Omega ducked and hit a pair of Snap Dragons. Moxley popped up on the last one and hit the lariat using the wire.

They fought on the edge, Moxley sent both off the apron delivering a Paradigm Shift through a barbed wire board with explosions underneath.

There was a musical warning with ten minutes until the ring would explode.

Omega hit the One-Winged Angel but Moxley triggered an explosion with his foot and it led to Omega not being able to cover him, which was very clever to have Moxley escape the move.

Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows entered the ring and Moxley attacked them with a barbed wire bat. They handed Omega a bat that exploded upon impact leading to a big near-fall on Moxley.

Omega hit a One-Winged Angel through a chair and pinned Moxley.

WINNER: Kenny Omega at 25 minutes and 10 seconds to retain the AEW Championship

You can’t complain about the level of violence or the quality of the explosions from a spectator standpoint as they appeared to work well for the crowd, and visually for those watching.

They ended the match before the thirty-minute mark but the post-match beatdown on Moxley continued. They handcuffed Moxley to leave him in the ring.

A sixty-second countdown clock appeared on the screen. The announcers were frantic that someone needed to save Moxley.

Eddie Kingston ran out to save Moxley and covered him up. The clock expired and some pyro went off and it was a gigantic letdown for the gravity of the moment they had built to.

The ending…bombed.
