MLW has hired long-time independent promoter Dave Prazak to help launch the promotion’s women’s division.

In the press release, Prazak stated:

During my twenty-five years working in the sport thus far, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a number of different capacities, for many companies which have focused on different types of professional wrestling.

It is that variety of styles, and the right mix of different elements which makes me most excited to join the team at Major League Wrestling. I’ve loved the way that MLW has provided its audience with a roster of amazing talent from around world, and I look forward to offering my own contributions to the company going forward. Having focused greatly on the promotion of women’s wrestling over the years, I value the chance to assist some very deserving SHIMMER athletes in receiving opportunities to grow by entering the MLW ranks. The addition of more women to MLW events in the future will only add to the wonderful variety already featured as part of the MLW product.

Prazak was a fixture on the independent scene as a manager and commentator beginning in the mid-’90s. His first major commentary role was with IWA: Mid-South and he later joined the team at Ring of Honor beginning in 2005. When the company launched on HD Net in 2009, Prazak worked with the late Mike Hogewood until wrapping up with ROH in 2011.

In 2005, Prazak founded SHIMMER which quickly became the go-to company in the United States for women’s wrestling featuring many of the top female talents in the industry.

The company operates out of Berwyn, Illinois, and presented their Volume 118 show last October at The Collective in Indianapolis, Indiana. Prazak has been an instrumental figure in the growth of women’s wrestling in the U.S. through the promotion.

In regards to SHIMMER, the promotion tweeted the following reply on Tuesday when asked about their future:

We’re currently looking at our options, schedule wise, to try to get back to business in Berwyn later this year. We should have an announcement soon!
