WWE NXT notes: Kross chokes out Samoa Joe, Women’s Title match, Rose/Monet

Karrion Kross retained his title, Franky Monet and Mandy Rose cross paths, a Women's Title match set for next week's show and more

In the main event of tonight’s NXT, Karrion Kross successfully defended the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano. Samoa Joe was the referee for the bout and he and Kross had a number of run-ins during the match. After Kross pinned Gargano, he and Joe continued to exchange words and as Joe was leaving the ring, Kross grabbed him from behind and choked him out.

Scheduled for the 7/20 show is Raquel Gonzalez putting her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Xia Li. Xia issued the challenge to Raquel after Dakota Kai and Raquel were celebrating Kai’s victory.

Duke Hudson bounced Ikemen Jiro out of the Breakout tournament. The tourney will continue next week with the remaining participants: Trey Baxter, Carmelo Hayes, Andre Chase, Josh Briggs, Joe Gacy and Odyssey Jones.

The Robert Stone Brand was in tag team action. Aliyah and Jessi Kamea were defeated by Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. Post-match, Aliyah grew irritated with Stone and beat him down in the ring. She then exited camera’s view and soon after, Franky Monet showed up and Kamea ended up leaving alongside Monet. Later in the show, Monet ran into Mandy Rose, who made her return to NXT.

Diamond Mine’s Roderick Strong and Tyler Rust are teaming up next week and they’ll face the duo of Bobby Fish and Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA.
