NJPW is expanding Wrestle Kingdom to a three-night event in January 2022 with the announcement of two shows at the Tokyo Dome and one at Yokohama Arena.

During the intermission portion of Wrestle Grand Slam on Saturday, the promotion announced back-to-back nights at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th and 5th followed by the news of a third night at Yokohama Arena on January 8th.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of New Japan Pro Wrestling, which was launched in 1972.

It is the first time NJPW has extended the Wrestle Kingdom series of events to three nights. It became a two-night event in January 2020, which continued this past January.

There was no announcement on the annual New Year Dash event that traditionally takes place the night after Wrestle Kingdom.
