Talks of Knockouts Knockdown began months ago.

This weekend at the IMPACT Wrestling TV tapings in Nashville, the company will also be taping the ‘Knockouts Knockdown’ event. The all-women’s show is being headlined by a Monster’s Ball match to pay tribute to the late Shannon ‘Daffney’ Spruill.

Thus far, the likes of Mercedes Martinez and Lady Frost have been confirmed for the event. The broadcast team includes Mickie James, Veda Scott and Melissa Santos as the ring announcer. Gail Kim did an interview with Darren Paltrowitz to promote the special and said IMPACT began talking about bringing this back months ago. Things were briefly put on hold because they wanted to fully support Mickie James and NWA EmPowerrr.

I mean, we started to chat about bringing back the special [Knockouts Knockdown] a couple months ago and then we wanted to — obviously Mickie [James] announced hers so of course we support her in every way possible and she did such a great job, what an inspiration for her to be able to stick to her guns and fight for what she wanted and come out successful and I was truly honored to be a part of that [NWA EmPowerrr]. It was emotionally fulfilling and just watching all the girls, for them as well and that’s what we want, to continue our tradition of Knockouts Knockdown. It’s gonna be a little bit different from what it was in the past but I think we kept the name because we knew the fans were familiar with the show and we wanted to bring that nostalgia back and to say, ‘Hey, we’re bringing this back for all the women’s wrestling fans out there.’

IMPACT is also moving towards their Bound For Glory event on October 23rd. Before Bound For Glory, their Victory Road show is airing on the IMPACT Plus service on September 18th.
