WWE SmackDown notes: Shotzi vs. Charlotte, Brock Lesnar ‘fine’, King Woods & Sir Kofi

Shotzi takes on Charlotte Flair and ends up attacking Sasha Banks, Naomi/Sonya Deville, King Woods knights Kofi Kingston and more

The SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair opened SmackDown and was confronted by Sasha Banks. Charlotte stated that she wanted to give a fresh face a shot at her and out came Shotzi. Flair ended up defeating Shotzi and post-match, Shotzi ambushed Sasha Banks because Sasha was ringside for the match and was cheering her on.

Adam Pearce appeared via satellite on tonight’s show. On top of the suspension of Brock Lesnar, Lesnar has also been fined $1 million. Lesnar tossed around referees and producers during his brawl with Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) last week. When Pearce announced Lesnar’s suspension, Lesnar came back to the ring and F5’d Pearce.

There was a segment on the show when King Xavier Woods knighted Kofi Kingston. They were confronted by SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. The two teams met in a non-title match in the main event and Woods and Kofi defeated the champions.

Woods and Kingston appeared in another segment and had a friendly exchange with Hit Row (Top Dolla, Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, B-FAB & Ashante Thee Adonis).

Naomi and Shayna Baszler were scheduled to go one-on-one but Sonya Deville inserted herself as the special guest referee. Deville refused to make the count for Naomi but fast counted her when she was being pinned. Baszler won the bout and post-match, she choked Naomi out.

Prior to SmackDown going live on FS1, former NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez defeated Toni Storm. Raquel lost the NXT Women’s Title to Mandy Rose at Halloween Havoc. Also, Diamond Mine’s Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) were in action and they fell in defeat to the Viking Raiders (Ivar & Erik).

A vignette aired during the show for Xia Li who was drafted to the brand as a part of the 2021 WWE Draft.

Drew McIntyre hosted an open challenge and Mustafa Ali answered. McIntyre tapped Ali out with a double wrist lock. After the bout, Ali said the only reason he gets booed by fans is because of his name.

There was a ‘Trick or Street Fight’ on the show featuring Rick Boogs and Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura versus Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss. Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo were dressed up in costumes and cost Nakamura and Boogs the match.

Following AEW Rampage, POST Wrestling will be live with our review of both SmackDown and Rampage.
