NJPW names Best of the Super Juniors participants, opening night card

NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament begins this Saturday with the promotion revealing the participants.

The upcoming tournament will run until December 15th where the finals will take place at Sumo Hall.

The round-robin tournament will feature the following members:
*IWGP junior heavyweight champion El Desperado
*Robbie Eagles
*Hiromu Takahashi
*El Phantasmo
*SHO
*YOH
*Ryusuke Taguchi
*Master Wato
*BUSHI
*Yoshinobu Kanemaru
*DOUKI
*Taiji Ishimori

The annual tournament dates back to 1988 when it was promoted as the Top of the Super Juniors and changed to its present name beginning in 1994.

Hiromu Takahashi won the 2020 version to become a two-time winner after previously winning the 2018 tournament.

The matches were announced for the first night of the tournament this Saturday at Korakuen Hall:
*Best of the Super Juniors: El Desperado vs. SHO
*Best of the Super Juniors: Hiromu Takahashi vs. YOH
*Best of the Super Juniors:
El Phantasmo vs. Master Wato
*Best of the Super Juniors:
Robbie Eagle vs. Ryusuke Taguchi
*Best of the Super Juniors:
Taiji Ishimori vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru
*Best of the Super Juniors:
BUSHI vs. DOUKI
*
Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuto Nakashima
