Details about Suwama’s plans to launch a women’s wrestling promotion/group.

Former 7-time All Japan Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Suwama has plans to launch a women’s wrestling group. The working name for the project is ‘Evolution’ and the trainee recruiting process has started. He informed Tokyo Sports that the group is going to collaborate with All Japan and the planned launch date is September 18th.

Suwama said the following about the venture:

I’m finally ready to start. The story has gotten bigger than it was at first, but we’re going to shape it from here, and we’re going to work desperately.

In the fall of 2020, Suwama and Shuji Ishikawa announced a women’s pro wrestling training group and the idea was to have a female talent compete for All Japan Pro Wrestling. Ice Ribbon’s Tsukasa Fujimoto was going to serve as an advisor but the plans never got off the ground.

Ishikawa and Suwama then got together to meet up with ‘Status’, an advertising agency that has had a relationship with All Japan since 2009 and told the agency about their project.

There have been a lot of comments about doing women’s events in All Japan, but we will continue to partner with All Japan and have a good relationship with them. I hope to make our debut at the Nippon Budokan event on September 18.

More details about the new organization is expected to announced at a press conference later this month.
