AEW Dynamite posts increase, finishes #6 on cable against NBA & NHL

AEW Dynamite finished sixth on cable for Wednesday’s episode going into Double or Nothing this weekend in Las Vegas.

The May 25th edition of the show averaged 929,000 viewers and 0.35 in the 18-49 demographic, per Showbuzz Daily and Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.

Those numbers represent increases from 922,000 and 0.33 for last week’s show while airing against the NBA and NHL playoffs.

AEW aired against the Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics that topped all of television with 6,422,000 viewers and 2.25 in 18-49 while the NHL game between Colorado and St. Louis finished third on cable with 1,394,000 viewers and 0.47 in the key demo.

In the breakdown of the 18-49 demo, females grew (0.19 to 0.24) while males saw a drop (0.47 to 0.45).

In 18-34, the show increased from 0.22 to 0.24.

In Canada, Dynamite averaged 83,500 viewers and 41,500 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2. It was ninth in viewership among sports programming and sixth in the demo.

Dynamite featured two Owen Hart Cup tournament matches with Samoa Joe advancing to the finals by defeating Kyle O’Reilly and Dr. Britt Baker advancing against Toni Storm in the women’s tournament.

AEW returns with its second of three shows from Las Vegas on Friday with a live edition of Rampage airing at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT due to Game 6 between the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche on the network.
