IWGP Women’s Championship defense confirmed for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17

It is official that STARDOM and NJPW's IWGP Women's Championship will be defended at Wrestle Kingdom 17

New match confirmed for Wrestle Kingdom.

Coming out of the NJPW x STARDOM ‘Historic X-Over’ press conference, it was confirmed that the IWGP Women’s Championship will be defended at Wrestle Kingdom 17.

The 2023 Wrestle Kingdom is returning to the one-night format and is scheduled for January 4th at the Tokyo Dome.

The tournament to crown the first-ever IWGP Women’s Champion begins on day two of NJPW Royal Quest II on October 2nd. At the STARDOM x NJPW crossover show on 11/20, the first champion will be crowned.

With the addition of the IWGP Women’s Title match, here’s the updated lineup for Wrestle Kingdom 17:

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: TBD (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada
  • IWGP Women’s Championship: TBD (c) vs. TBD
