Thanks to interference from Juice Robinson, KENTA became the first Japanese wrestler to hold the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship at Battle in the Valley.

In the closing moments of the title match with Fred Rosser, the referee took a bump after KENTA pushed Rosser into him.

While the referee was out, Rosser applied an STF to KENTA, forcing a tap, but the official was still down.

Juice Robinson then came to the ring and blasted Rosser with a roll of coins. KENTA hit the Go-To-Sleep to win the match and the title.
