Sonya Deville announces engagement

WWE performer Sonya Deville a.k.a. Daria Berenato has announced her engagement with her partner.

People received the exclusive news that Berenato recently proposed to Toni Cassano the day after Valentine’s Day as a wine cellar in Towaco, New Jersey.

Berenato proposed with a custom-made engagement ring and was immediately presented with her own ring by Cassano, who had been carrying one around for four months awaiting the proposal.

Cassano has two children, ages 7 and 11, who were present for the proposal.

Berenato and Cassano met last April with Cassano attending a WWE show and going out with her after the show.

Berenato told People:

It’s so cool to me to be in this position right now, to be engaged as a gay female in the WWE, and to have proposed to my fiancée. Because I look back at seven years ago, eight years ago when I wasn’t even openly out yet, and I was hiding relationships, and I was still trying to figure out my comfortability with being gay and who I was.

Berenato, 29, had an MMA background prior to joining WWE where she had three fights and 2-1.

She auditioned and was selected for Tough Enough in 2015 and signed by the company after the series concluded and was assigned to NXT.

In 2017, she received her main roster call-up as part of Absolution with Paige and Mandy Rose.
