Shayna Baszler discusses herself & Ronda Rousey hearing ‘you can’t wrestle’ chants, chats WWE Tag Titles

The WWE Women's Tag Titles, 'you can't wrestle' chants and WrestleMania 39 discussed by Shayna Baszler

The Women’s Tag Titles are not Baszler and Rousey’s focus but the opportunities will come.

The duo of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have been consistently featured on-screen together since last year. On the 2/17 Friday Night SmackDown, Baszler and Rousey scored a win in tag action when they bested Shotzi and Natalya.

As that match was ongoing, chants of ‘you can’t wrestle’ broke out as Rousey was in the ring. Shayna addressed that on episode #92 of WWE Die Woche. She brought up that herself and Rousey are likely the only two women on the roster who can do a double leg takedown which is a wrestling move.

It’s funny because, I don’t know, I’ll say this here but it’s funny because you’ll hear, ‘You can’t wrestle’ or people tell us (Baszler & Ronda Rousey) we can’t wrestle, learn how to wrestle, all we do is MMA but it’s like, we’re probably the only two girls in the locker room, maybe on the roster… that know how to do a double leg takedown. A real double leg, that’s wrestling, you know what I mean (Baszler smiled)? So it’s funny the way people think about us because we’re too good.

She was asked about the Women’s Tag Team Titles which are going to be defended this coming Monday on Raw

Baszler stated that herself and Ronda will not turn down an opportunity to go after the titles, but that is not their main focus. She added that they are focused on reminding people who they are.

Well I mean, I think if that opportunity presents itself which is definitely not something we’re gonna say ‘no’ to (Baszler & Ronda Rousey going after WWE Women’s Tag Titles), I think especially, once Ronda dropped the title recently with Charlotte (Flair), we had a talk and it’s not about the title or titles or any titles for either of us. We are out to remind people — it seems people have forgotten just who Ronda and I are and so we’re here to remind them. The title opportunities will come if we’re ourselves and we’re not taking any crap from anyone. The title opportunities will come along so I wouldn’t say it’s something we’re chasing necessarily but it’s definitely something that we see down the road.

If Baszler had her pick of the litter when it comes to a match at WrestleMania 39, she would not mind being in a title match and then mentioned that she thinks she could have a ‘different’ match with Asuka.

I’d love anyone to have a WrestleMania moment, like a big title story that everyone is drawn into. So, you know, kneejerk, I’m gonna say who has the title right now. I guess Damage CTRL since I’m with Ronda (Rousey) but I wouldn’t complain about a Charlotte (Flair) match or — those are already set but I’d love to be in a title match at WrestleMania. All that being said, you know, we talk about ring styles and stuff, I think that Asuka and I could put on a different looking match than anybody else. Her coach, for people that don’t know, and Billy (Robinson) both trained under (Karl) Gotch so we kind of come from the same family tree so I think our toolbox of things we could use on each other, we’d have to dig a little deeper in there than we would against anyone else. I think it’d be great.

To close the month of December, Rousey lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair. Flair is now scheduled to defend the belt against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.
