A major book project is in the works covering the life of Ric Flair.

Historian Tim Hornbaker has announced that he will be releasing a biography on Flair later this year through ECW Press which will be released on September 12, 2023.

Hornbaker has been working on the book for the past three years and will be the tenth book he has released.

The title of the book will be ‘The Last Real World Champion: The Legacy of “Nature Boy” Ric Flair’.

Hornbaker has written some of the best historical books on the industry including ‘National Wrestling Alliance: The Untold Story of the Monopoly That Strangled Pro Wrestling’, ‘Capitol Revolution’, ‘Death of the Territories’ and ‘Master of the Ring: The Biography of Buddy Rogers’.

Hornbaker spoke to Greg Oliver at SLAM Wrestling and confirmed that Flair is not part of the project while adding:

Ric Flair is one of the most important professional wrestling figures of all-time. He is also one of the most discussed and critiqued personalities in the sport’s history. I thought it was time for a historian to present his full story from an independent point of view and put his achievements into the proper perspective.

Flair put out his own biography ‘To Be the Man’ in 2004 which he worked on with Keith Elliot Greenberg and Mark Madden, and a follow-up in 2017 titled ‘Second Nature: The Legacy of Ric Flair and The Rise of Charlotte’ with his daughter Ashley a.k.a. Charlotte Flair.
