REPORT: CM Punk was backstage at WWE Raw earlier today

CM Punk was backstage at WWE Raw during the day on Monday.

PWinsider.com was the first to report that Punk visited people backstage at the show in Chicago. POST Wrestling confirmed Punk was there on Monday.

The site reports that Punk briefly saw Paul Levesque and several talents before being asked to exit the arena. PWinsider was told by one source that it was a call by Vince McMahon for him to leave, and Punk did so when asked.

We are not able to confirm if he was asked to leave the arena.

Fightful Select adds that Punk left “without incident” according to those they spoke with and that several wrestlers suggested to the site that they felt it was a publicity stunt for his expected return to AEW.

Punk last worked for WWE in 2014 after walking out hours before a live edition of Raw in Cleveland the night after that year’s Royal Rumble. He was famously fired later that year with his termination notice sent on his wedding day in June 2014. In 2019, Punk accepted a role working with FS 1 on the WWE Backstage panel show but was not directly working with WWE, although was working with its broadcast partner.

Punk joined AEW in 2021 but has been off television since September of last year after the backstage incident at All Out, and suffering a torn triceps the same night.
