“Jey Uso on the Warpath”

SmackDown started with a brief shot of Jey Uso walking in the back and Michael Cole announced that Jey was “on the warpath” tonight, complete with a graphic saying as much.

Belair & Charlotte

Bianca Belair came down to the ring and cut a promo talking about how badly she has wanted Asuka and tonight would be her night. Bianca said “Patience is a virtue but vengeance is sweet” and promised a KOD and a 1-2-3 with her walking out the new champion. This brought out Charlotte Flair who said she thinks Belair will win tonight in Flair Country but she didn’t want any confusion about who was next in line. Belair agreed and suggested they do their match at SummerSlam and the pair shook hands.

Sheamus & Ridge vs. Pretty Deadly

Backstage, Sheamus & The Brawling Brutes discussed how they were going to have a big night tonight. Sheamus said that Butch would win the just-announced United States Championship Invitational and he and Ridge Holland would finally get revenge on Pretty Deadly. This led immediately to the team heading to the ring for the match against Elton Prince and Kit Wilson. Pretty Deadly picked up the victory after Elton Prince removed the turnbuckle cover and Ridge Holland went throat-first into the exposed buckle, calling back to Holland’s injury due to being on the receiving end of Solo Sikoa’s Samoan Spike a few weeks ago. Prince then hit a leg drop from the top rope for the pin.

Grayson & Dwayne

Cathy Kelley interviewed Grayson Waller backstage and he said he wasn’t surprised that he was already getting his first championship opportunity and that if he had more than fifteen minutes to get ready last week he would have defeated Edge. Waller then brought up that even The Rock was talking about him and he was looking for the “Grayson Waller rub” and if he wants more, he knows where to find him.

Bloodline Recap

A lengthy video package of the events of the multiple Bloodline segments from last week was shown. Michael Cole then stated that Jimmy Uso suffered ruptured rib cartilage and would be out of action for the “foreseeable future”.

Bayley & Iyo Have Entered the Chat

Backstage Adam Pearce approached Charlotte Flair who was departing the arena stating that she “feels good” and didn’t need to be there. Bayley and Iyo Sky barged in and said they were also feeling good about tonight. Charlotte then returned and said, “On second thought, I’m staying”.

Bayley came to the ring to face the LWO’s Zelina Vega with the lock of hair that she and Iyo cut from Shotzi two weeks ago. Bayley won in just over two minutes after what seemed like a botched spot where Iyo was supposed to hit Vega with the Money in the Bank briefcase during a referee distraction but instead, Bayley just rolled Zelina up for the win.

Afterward, Shotzi appeared on the TitanTron and asked Bayley if she looked like someone she could control. She then shaved most of her hair off while laughing maniacally and saying “Maybe I am a little weird, but I’m in control”.

Jey, Paul & Solo

Jey Uso came down to the ring and talked about how he and Jimmy were glued at the hip growing up and when Jimmy hurts, Jey hurts too. He said he would take care of both Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. This brought out Paul Heyman and “The Enforcer of the Bloodline” Solo Sikoa who Heyman said he was there to “enforce the peace”. Heyman said that next week on SmackDown, Jey and Roman will go face-to-face and “discuss the rules of engagement”. Heyman then went on to say that what happened to Jimmy was all Jey’s fault and that his parents will never forgive him.

Solo then called for the microphone to which Heyman obliged. Sikoa said, “What happened to Jimmy, that’s all on you. But me? I’ll never forgive you either”. At that point, the two brawled with Sikoa being thrown to the outside. This left Jey and Paul alone together in the ring which brought the crowd to a frenzy. Before Jey could do anything to Paul, Solo jumped Jey from behind and their fight continued with Paul Heyman getting caught by a superkick. Jey grabbed a chair and was going to attack Heyman with it but instead hit Sikoa. Solo & Heyman finally retreated.

United States Championship Invitational, Part One

Austin Theory joined Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary for this Fatal 4-Way Match. Cole explained that the winner of this match would go on to face the winner of another Fatal 4-Way that would take place next week. Then the two winners would face off two weeks from tonight and then we would have our official challenger to Theory’s United States Championship. AJ Styles had the match won after a Phenomenal Forearm when Karrion Kross appeared on the video screen having laid out the rest of The OC saying that it’s not over. Grayson Waller attacked Styles and hit the rolling stunner only to have Santos Escobar hit the diving splash on Waller and earn the pinfall.

Street Profits & Bobby Lashley

The Street Profits were seen backstage as a limo approached. Bobby Lashley emerged and asked if they were ready to talk. The three got into the limo and drove off.

Fatal 4-Way Part II Participants Revealed

Rey Mysterio, Cameron Grimes, and Sheamus all had short videos to announce they would be taking part in next week’s second Fatal 4-Way U.S. Championship Invitational. LA Knight came out into the arena live and said that everyone on the internet wants to use his name to get clicks and then announced that he was also part of next week’s Fatal 4-Way.

WWE Women’s Championship

The main event saw Asuka defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. Before the bell rang, Bayley and Iyo Sky were shown marching through the crowd with tickets and set themselves in the front row. Shortly after the match began, Charlotte Flair also appeared through the crowd with a ticket and positioned herself front row opposite Bayley & Iyo. At one point in the match, Belair hit the KOD on Asuka onto the announce table. This brought Bayley, Iyo, and Charlotte to ringside. Charlotte attacked Bayley and then attempted to spear Iyo but missed and hit Belair causing the match to end via disqualification. Iyo nailed Charlotte with the briefcase and then Bayley and Iyo decided to cash in but Asuka spit blue mist into Bayley’s eyes and took off with her title.
