Alex Shelley has challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to an IMPACT World Championship match next month.

Shelley took to social media on Wednesday to make the challenge for IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2. The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

In a clip, Shelley says:

Oi, Oi, Oi, Tana-san. You were a big senpai to me for years when I was in New Japan Pro Wrestling, and I looked up to you because you’re The Ace. Well, guess what? I’m The Joker. Come August 20th, at the world-famous 2300 Arena, go ahead, challenge for this. And I’m gonna show you why, now, I’m the best in the world.

Tanahashi competed in the first Multiverse United show on March 30th, 2023, defeating Mike Bailey. The match with Shelley is yet to be made official, but IMPACT recently confirmed that Tanahashi is set to appear at Multiverse United 2.

At this point, one match is officially listed for next month’s pay-per-view. X-Division Champion Lio Rush & Trey Miguel will compete against Hiromu Takahashi & Mike Bailey.
