Hikaru Shida became AEW Women’s World Champion for the second time after beating Toni Storm in the main event of Dynamite on Wednesday night.

Shida had previously held the title for over a year, having defeated Nyla Rose at AEW Double or Nothing in May 2020. In promos during the show, Shida was noted as the “pandemic era” champion. She spoke about wanting to hold the title in front of fans.

Despite interference from Storm’s Outcasts allies, Saraya and Ruby Soho, Shida managed to reverse a Storm Zero pinning attempt by Storm into a roll-up for the three count.

Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter to win the title at this year’s AEW Double or Nothing on May 28th.
