AJ Francis, formerly Top Dolla in WWE, has claimed that his infamous botched dive on SmackDown led to a life-saving diagnosis of diabetes.

In response to a post on X marking the one-year anniversary of the spot, the 33-year-old responded:

The botch saved my life. I made that dive a dozen times before, legs felt off but I didn’t think about it. After I failed I went to the doc & found out I had Type II diabetes & my blood sugar was 626.

I almost lost my life & was about to lose both feet. The botch saved my life.

In the weeks following the spot, he was the butt of many jokes on WWE television in backstage segments and on commentary.

WWE signed Francis in January 2020. He was part of the Hit Row faction that also comprised Ashante Thee Adonis, Swerve Scott (now Swerve Strickland) and B-Fab.

He was released by WWE on September 21st and is currently under a 90-day no-compete contract clause.
