Kevin Patrick is no longer going to be in the role of lead SmackDown commentator.

The WWE Friday Night SmackDown commentary team consists of Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick. It was first reported by Aaron Varble on Monday night that Patrick is no longer going to be on commentary moving forward. Varble noted that a replacement has not been determined and the reason for the change-up is, “It just wasn’t working out”.

That report was corroborated by both F4WOnline and PWInsider, with both sites confirming that Patrick is not going to calling SmackDown moving forward.

PWInsider added that Patrick was scheduled to travel to Miami, Florida this week to call the Royal Rumble go-home edition of the show.

He transitioned from his backstage interviewer and show host role to commentary. Up until recently, Graves and Patrick had been calling the action as a two-man team. Michael Cole was with them on commentary prior to that in addition to being the lead announcer for Raw.
