Kevin Owens: “I made it in a t-shirt, CM Punk is furious”

Looking towards what he’d like to do, Owens wants matches with Rey Mysterio and Finn Bálor.

Coming out of WWE WrestleMania XL night two, joining Busted Open was Kevin Owens. Owens was a part of the Triple Threat with Randy Orton and United States Champion Logan Paul for Paul’s U.S. Title.

There was a point in the interview when Bully Ray joked with Owens about being the chosen one for the talents who wrestle in t-shirts. Owens responded by saying he found success in a t-shirt and CM Punk is furious about it. He was jokingly referring to a past incident between him and Punk that had to do with Punk getting on his case about wrestling in a shirt.

Bully Ray: I always told Kevin that he was the chosen one. He is like the Neo of the shirt guys. He’s gotten farther than anybody else.

Owens: I know. I made it in a t-shirt. CM Punk is furious.

As far as what Owens would like to do in the future, he spoke about living in the moment. When he was paired with Chris Jericho, he did not enjoy those times as much as he should’ve but looking back, he realizes he had a good time at that point in his career.

He wants a singles match against Rey Mysterio. Owens added that if he has another WrestleMania in him, he wants to square off with Finn Bálor at the event.

Things to accomplish and other things, I’ve changed my mindset a lot over the years. I used to be so obsessed with just wanting to do more. What’s my next thing? How big can it be? And a lot of that made it so that I wouldn’t enjoy it; almost what I was going through, you know? With all the things I was experiencing. Mainly, I’ll say teaming with (Chris) Jericho for all those months and the story we had was so incredible. But in that moment, I didn’t enjoy it like I should have and now looking back, I’m like, ‘Man, those were great times,’ you know? So now I really just try to live in the moment and I try to make everything I can and any time I’m out there, I try to make it memorable, I try to enjoy it and you know, if you’re asking me what I’d like to do, that’s left that I haven’t done, I’ve never had a singles match against Rey Mysterio. I really wanna do that, and then… if I have another WrestleMania in me, I’d love to wrestle Finn Bálor there because he’s a very good friend of mine and you know, that would just be great. But, as far as just goals, main events of WrestleMania or titles… I mean, I’ve had it so good. I really can’t ask for more.

Owens joined the ring for Cody Rhodes’ victory celebration at the conclusion of WrestleMania XL.

In his match, Owens took the pin as Paul connected with a top-rope frog splash.
