Jerry Lawler is reportedly no longer part of WWE’s broadcast roster.
Lawler, a former wrestler turned broadcaster for WWE, has reportedly parted ways with the company after the expiration of his latest deal, per Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
WWE “quietly declined” a renewal of Lawler’s deal, concluding a multi-decade run with the promotion as an on-air personality. However, a source said that he remains under a “Legends” contract with the promotion.
Lawler, a 74-year-old with a wrestling career that goes as far back as the early 1970s, has been a broadcasting figure with the WWE for the past few decades. He rejoined the promotion in 2001 as a commentator and held a position as part of the Monday Night Raw crew for years.
His appearances on commentary started to become less frequent by 2016. He has been given short stints on commentary, including a brief run on the Monday Night Raw crew that lasted just a few months from 2019 to 2020, and has been used as a panelist on WWE programming in recent years.
Lawler has notably grappled with medical issues throughout his run as a TV personality, suffering two different strokes over the past few years. He also went into cardiac arrest while on air in 2012 which took him off programming for two months.
