Windy City Riot became a topic of conversation during a Rocky Romero interview.

The next event on the schedule for NJPW STRONG is Resurgence on May 11th from Ontario, California. In April, the brand ran their Windy City Riot show from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Heading up STRONG brand is Rocky Romero, who is now the Vice President of Show and Talent Coordination for both NJPW and All Elite Wrestling.

While Romero was on Wrestling Observer Live, he stated that there’s a chance that every April, there will be a Windy City Riot show in Chicago.

Chicago, I’d like to make a yearly thing. I think that the fans there just really love the product and we haven’t been there enough. I think we’ve only been there twice so I feel like that needs to be a yearly thing and we’re probably gonna start looking at next April, every April to do Windy City Riot from Chicago.

He touched on the 2024 installment of the show and said it was one of NJPW STRONG’s best-grossing pay-per-views and it did well attendance-wise.

Windy City Riot did extremely well, extremely well. It was one of our best-grossing pay-per-views and obviously, it was phenomenal attendance-wise in Chicago. Battle in the Valley did extremely well in February and this one (Resurgence) is doing great as well in Ontario. There’s quite a bit of tickets out already. There’s still some left if you’re in the area.

The first Windy City Riot show took place in April 2022 in Villa Park, Illinois.

Come August 30th, NJPW is returning to Washington D.C. for Capital Collision.
