Hikaru Shida vs. Leila Grey

Rampage kicked off the same way as last week – with Hikaru Shida coming out for the opening match, this time against Top Flight’s Leila Grey. The announce team noted that last week’s win was Shida’s 80th win in AEW. Grey impressed in this outing and showed that she can hang with the rest of the stacked women’s division.

That said, despite the quality, the outcome was all but a given as Shida picked up the win with the Falcon Arrow.

Harley Cameron Promo (Recommended)

Just watch it. Harley will face Mina Shirakawa tomorrow night on Collision.

Mark Briscoe vs. Ariya Daivari

This was essentially a house show match but Excalibur referencing Launchpad McQuack and Matt Menard countering with Darkwing Duck popped me. Mark Briscoe won after Mark Sterling tried to interfere but was intercepted by Rocky Romero and hit subsequently hit the Froggy Bo.

Rocky Romero vs. Komander

Next up was Azucar Rocky Romero taking on Komander. MVP was shown backstage watching this match and appeared impressed with Komander.

Komander picked up the win with his top rope walk shooting star press.

Anna Jay and Taya Valkyrie

Backstage, Taya Valkyrie offered The Vendetta’s services for her no DQ match tomorrow night against Mariah May on Collision.

LFI In Action

Next, Beast Mortos and Rush took on Alec Price and Richard Holliday. LFI picked up the win after Rush hit the Bull’s Horns

MVP Reacts

MVP said some of the talent in AEW needed to be “hurt” and beaten down to their knees for them to succeed. He said he’ll be watching Ricochet in the main event tonight and said he was impressed by Komander.

Ricochet vs. Dante Martin

The Rampage main event saw Ricochet taking on Top Flight’s Dante Martin. MVP was shown once again watching from the backstage area.

The match was as impressive as expected with these two competitors but in the end, Ricochet picked up the victory with the newly-named “Spirit Gun” aka non-hidden blade.

Announced for Collision:

  • Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Bulk Bronson
  • Daniel Garcia vs. Johnny TV
  • Shelton Benjamin vs. Komander

Final Thoughts

Mark Sterling is great on the microphone and the Premier Athletes are just that, fantastic athletes but their shtick of trying to get the crowd to say “athletes rule” feels like something out of Promo Class 101. That said, Rampage has become Harley Cameron’s show even though she usually only gets about sixty seconds. Ricochet and Dante Martin impressed as expected but unfortunately not enough to go out of your way to watch.
