Ivar dodged a ‘very big bullet.’

This past Monday on Raw, The War Raiders (Ivar & Erik) ended Finn Bálor and J.D. McDonagh’s reign as WWE World Tag Team Champions.

An interview with Ivar was rolled out by Chris Van Vliet and during the chat, he spoke about the neck injury he navigated in the early portion of 2024. He began to notice something was off during an overseas tour post-WrestleMania XL. He then went on to have a match against Oba Femi in NXT and during the second half of the match, Ivar lost all strength in his right arm.

He took time off and after getting an MRI, it was relayed to him that he may have to retire from in-ring competition. The initial thought was that he’d have to undergo another neck fusion surgery, which would have been four years after undergoing his first.

Ivar’s surgeon then told him that he could rehab without surgery but if surgery was needed, it could be done arthroscopically. Ivar was told that he dodged a ‘very big bullet’ with how his injury turned out.

Present-day, he’s feeling good, but admitted that he has permanent nerve damage and nerve pain in his hands that stems from the first neck injury.
