Start of the tournament is delayed.
NJPW were scheduled to kick off the 2025 New Japan Cup on March 7th, but the show did not take place due to a broken ring post.
TMDK’s Hartley Jackson posted a picture on X of the ring post that has been displaced. NJPW sent out the following statement on the matter:
Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Due to a broken ring post tonight’s event in Korakuen Hall has been forced to be canceled.
A talk show will take place in place of matches, with tickets to be refunded.
NJPW deeply apologizes for the abrupt cancelation of tonight’s event and the disappointment and inconvenience caused.
The likes of NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto, Bullet Club War Dogs (Gabe Kidd & Drilla Moloney) and other talents scheduled for the event showed up for the talk show(s) for the live fans at Korakuen Hall.
The next New Japan Cup date is March 8th at Korakuen.
