Cope will receive a second chance next week.
Adam Copeland has been granted a rematch against AEW World Champion Jon Moxley for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Omaha, Nebraska. Their upcoming clash will be held under street fight rules.
The winner of the match is expected to face #1 contender Swerve Strickland at Dynasty on April 6.
AEW has given Cope a rematch after losing his latest title shot via unusual circumstances.
Cope’s 26-minute main event clash against Moxley at Revolution last weekend suddenly became a three-way as Christian Cage decided to cash in his 2024 All In title shot clause as the bout was nearing its conclusion.
Cage ended up being the one who Moxley directly beat to end the match, meaning that Cope was never directly pinned or submitted for the title bout to end. Because of this, Copeland has one more opportunity to become champ before Moxley moves on to another contender.
Next week’s Dynamite will have at least a couple of matches to help set up Dynasty. The Omaha-based episode will also feature the four-way final for the International Championship Eliminator Tournament, determining who will be Kenny Omega’s first challenger.
