There is nowhere else Strickland would rather be.
In March 2022, Swerve Strickland arrived to All Elite Wrestling. Fast-forward to two years later, he captured the company’s World Championship and his run lasted four months and it concluded in front of over 40,000 people at AEW All In.
On the day of All In 2024, Strickland signed a new contract with AEW. He spoke about that while being interviewed by Bootleg Kev and revealed that he’s under contract until 2029.
He stated that there is nowhere else he’d rather be. Strickland said like any job, there can be frustrating times, but he works through those frustrations at AEW better than he has anywhere else. He added that him and Tony Khan work through those frustrations together.
Yup (I’m signed to AEW until 2029). There’s nowhere else I would rather be. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just a PR. He’s supposed to say that sh*t.’ Nah, I mean that sh*t from the bottom of my heart. There’s no other place I’d rather be and do I have bad days as opposed to good days? Of course. This is a job. I have frustrations here and there. But, I work through those frustrations better here than I did in other places and anywhere else in the world. Whether it’d be Lucha Underground, MLW, WWE, NXT. Tony Khan and me have always worked through frustrations… Yeah (he lets me cook). But there’s certain times I’m like, ‘Ah, we didn’t cook as best as we could have been able to cook’ and I’m someone, I’m not going to half-ass that.
Strickland is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. He earned his opportunity by besting Ricochet at Revolution.
Strickland closed that pay-per-view by delivering a Swerve Stomp onto Moxley and a handful of security guards.
