Three posthumous inductions have been added to this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class.
Kamala, Dory Funk Sr., and Ivan Koloff will be inducted into WWE’s “Legacy” group, announced on Wednesday.
The trio of upcoming inductees joins a long list of names who will be honored during the promotion’s ceremony on April 18 from the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kamala, real name James Arthur Harris, had an on-and-off career in the WWE (then WWF), putting together three stints with the promotion from the mid-80s to the mid-90s.
While most active as a wrestler in the 80s – consistently wrestling more than 100 matches a year at one point – Kamala remained around the scene until 2010, when he had his last match.
Harris died in 2020 after going into cardiac arrest due to a COVID-19 infection, per the New York Times.
Funk Sr., the father of Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk, two legends in their own right, made his in-ring debut in the 1940s, kicking off what would become a nearly 40-year career.
He started to promote Western States Sports in the 50s, creating a home for a long list of future legends in the scene. He continued to run the promotion and wrestle until 1973, when he suddenly passed away due to a heart attack.
Koloff, born Oreal Donald Perras, was a Canadian-born wrestler who became best known as the heel role of “The Russian Bear.” Billed from Moscow, Russia, Koloff worked frequently from the 60s to the 90s, notably ending Bruno Sammartino’s seven-year run with the WWWF World Heavyweight Championship in January 1971.
Koloff, who wrestled his last match in 2013, died in 2017 due to liver cancer.
